Adrafinil was first used in the mid 1980’s in France to treat narcoleptic sleep disorders. It is a peripheral member of the Nootropic family that is considered to be a eugeroic. A Eugeroic is a wakefulness promoting agent that act as stimulants for patients with sleep disorders like narcolepsy. Aside from keeping you awake, alert and reduce fatigue, adrafinil is effective in positively affecting mood, energy levels, motivation and reaction time. In some cases with people who have introversion or social anxiety, taking it can increase talkativeness and sociability.

Adrafinil has 2 different types of benefits. The first is related to adrafinil acting as a general stimulant, known to give more energy, stamina, and attention. This is perfect for people who work late or work in shifts like doctors and nurses, truck drivers, shift workers, and students who stay up late to study for exams. Because of the stimulation of domapine receptors, it is also thought to help increase overall motivation, productivity and drive. It is also very effective for people who want to promote a sense of well-being, reduce stress, and enhance excitement or pleasure. Besides stimulation benefits, adrafinil also has nootropic effects which include cognitive benefits such as improved memory and even learning capacity. Reports have shown that people have experienced faster speed of recall and describe the drug as increasing the speed of their thoughts while taking it. This is especially useful in verbal or written communication where it may help you think of what to say more quickly. Adrafinil can also make mental work less exhausting, especially during those times when you’ve been working or studying for long periods of time.

Side effects of Adrafinil range from mild to more severe. Mild side effects include headaches, dizziness, stomach discomfort, and nausea. Some severe side effects may occur when it has been used significantly over a long period of time. These serious side effects pertain to liver function therefore, liver health should be monitored if you are taking this on a daily basis.
