Semax was developed in Russia in 1982 as a treatment for stroke victims suffering brain damage. Eventually, it was discovered to result in significant cognitive enhancement in healthy individuals as well. It is 1,000 times more potent than Piracetam and is similar to Noopept, Sunifiram, and Unifiram. It is prescribed for its neuroprotective and neurorestorative characteristics in Russia and the Ukraine where clinical uses of Semax are common. It is especially beneficial to individuals who have suffered different forms of head trauma. Other cognitive disorders, optic nerve disease, and peptic ulcers have also been treated with Semax. As a nootropic, it stimulates the Central Nervous system and increases memory, learning, alertness, reasoning, perception, concentration, energy, immune system functioning, and even neutralizing stress. User reports state that it makes all of your cognitive tasks seem to flow easier, faster and with less effort. Studies have shown that it helps to improve the adaptive capacity of the brain to stress coming from a person’s environment and to lessen symptoms of fatigue after long hours of mental work. Besides stimulating the CNS, it works by modulating the the receptors for neurotransmitters acetylcholine, dopamine, serotonin, adenosine, histamine, and others. Because of the effects of dopamine and serotonin, it may be used to treat depression, anxiety, and even sleep disorders. Many of its benefits are because of Semax’s psychostimulant effects, but unlike other CNS stimulants, it does not have the negative side effects are often associated with them.

Semax is sold in the form of a nasal spray and its bottles of 3 ml contain 60 doses each. Because of its unique way of being administered, some people have doubts about taking it. Other nootropics are usually in powder or tablet form so they are taken orally, but the nasal administration just means it will be better absorbed. Conclusively, Semax is absorbed better into your system via the nasal mucous membrane rather than through the digestive system. The recommended dosage is two to three drops of 0.1% solution in each nostril taken twice a day. This is about 50mcg of the active ingredient per spray, which means you would be getting 200 mcg of Semax per dose.
